Mac Serial Number Lookup for Warranty

A Mac serial number lookup shows coverage for a Mac mini, iMac, or MacBook. It does not show an IMEI, because most Macs do not have one.

A Mac serial number lookup is the right check for a Mac mini, iMac, or MacBook. Apple identifies the computer by serial number. There is usually no IMEI, so an IMEI blacklist page does not apply. Coverage, the model description, and AppleCare attach to the serial.

Find the serial

On the Mac, open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. The serial is on that window. It is also on the underside of some laptops and on the original box. For a purchase, read it on the machine you are buying, not from a photo of a box.

Coverage is not ownership

An active warranty check means Apple still covers that serial for the dates shown. It does not mean the Mac is signed out of Find My, and it does not mean a company MDM profile is gone. On Apple silicon Macs, Activation Lock can still block the next owner. Ask the seller to sign out and remove the Mac from their account, then confirm the computer reaches the setup screen without asking for their Apple Account. Use the serial number lookup for the coverage dates. Use the screen in front of you for the account question.
