iPad Serial Number Check for Coverage and Model
An iPad serial number check is how you read coverage on Wi-Fi and cellular iPads. Cellular models also have an IMEI.
An iPad serial number check is the coverage lookup for iPad. Apple tracks the device by serial number. Wi-Fi only iPads do not have an IMEI, so a 15-digit check cannot identify them. Cellular iPads have both. Use the serial for warranty and AppleCare. Use the IMEI if you also need a blacklist or SIM lock result.
Where to read it
Open Settings, General, About. The serial is near the top. It is also on the back of some older iPads and on the box. Match the serial on the device to the serial you submit. A box serial that does not match Settings is the same red flag as on an iPhone.
What to do with the result
Read the model name, the coverage end date, and any AppleCare line. Then, if the iPad is cellular and you are buying it used, run Find My and a GSMA blacklist check on the IMEI. MDM matters on iPads that came from schools. A serial number check will not tell you the tablet is free of a management profile. Ask for that report separately, and do not pay while Find My is on.
